I will be the first to admit, and my family will vouch for me, that I do not do well in a medical emergency. We had one today at Church and I do not even know the person.
Our Church in Kansas City had a older demographic then our current church (although, I did enter a connection card of a woman over 100 in Charlotte that had a email address and I still love to tell people this fact). The fire and medic response team in KC was a couple blocks away and they frequently made the Sunday trip to Village Church. This freaked me out to the point I felt paralyzed about going to Church. A elderly woman next to me had a seizure in my lap one Sunday. I remember her well because she rocked white hair in the back of her head and red in the front. Because this was such a common event our Minister would continue with his sermon while the medics wheeled the patient out of the sanctuary and no one would bat an eye or skip a beat.
We have been attending Elevation for years and have never had an incident with the exception of the day two women fainted during data entry. Most Elevation campuses are a video feed including the one we attend. A gentleman on the front row either had a stroke or heart attack. Our pastor was on the screens and all of the sudden people started standing up. I freaked out thinking we had a shooter. It was asked if there was a Doctor in the house and several stepped forward. We were the asked if anyone had nitroglycerin and a pill was quickly handed forward. The video feed was immediately shut down and our campus pastor came on stage, explained what was happening and lead everyone in prayer. The time between the crisis and help to arrive seemed like forever. The fire truck and crew were the first on the scene. The gentleman was frequently screaming out in pain.
It seemed like time stood still and many people were crying including myself. We were then all dismissed, because they could not move him immediately but left wondering what happened?!? With the power of social media our Campus Pastor tweeted that he was stabilized and tests were being run.
Update!!!
The person is 48 and had a muscle spasm?!?
